We are excited to invite you to join the IMPETUS team as a member of our Citizen Panel!

If you’re passionate about citizen science and want to help shape projects that drive real change across Europe, this is your opportunity to make a difference. Whether you’re new to the field or already profoundly engaged, your voice and insights could play a key role in shaping the future of citizen science.

How It Works

Participation is entirely voluntary. We seek individuals passionate about citizen science and community engagement who can commit to dedicating one or two hours per week to IMPETUS panel activities during October and November. The panel meets online, and we anticipate it being active for at least one more year, though members can step down at any time. The panel’s working language is English.

About the IMPETUS Citizen Panel

The IMPETUS Citizen Panel was established in 2022 and has since become an integral part of the IMPETUS project, helping to determine the initiatives that we support and celebrate. The panel played a vital role in defining the “Cities for Life” challenge in our first open call and the “Justice and Equity” challenge in our second. Looking ahead, the panel will also contribute to defining a challenge for our third and final open call, set to launch next year.

As a panel member, you will work closely with the IMPETUS consortium to:

  1. Shape Future Challenges: Define the challenges for our open accelerator calls, through which we recruit and support citizen science initiatives. You will help steer the focus of these challenges, ultimately influencing which projects receive funding and accelerator support.
  2. Contribute to the European Union Prize for Citizen Science: Assist with nominations and evaluations for this prestigious prize, ensuring that impactful and innovative projects gain the recognition they deserve.
  3. Promote Citizen Science Across Europe: Help amplify IMPETUS’s work and spread awareness about citizen science’s potential.

What You’ll Gain as a Panel Member

In addition to contributing to the success of citizen science initiatives, panel members enjoy several benefits:

  • Access to the IMPETUS accelerator training program.
  • A free festival pass for the renowned Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria.
  • Recognition on the IMPETUS website, where your profile will be featured.
  • The satisfaction of playing a key role in determining which citizen science projects receive our support and resources.
